Chab Dai Canada is devoted to seeing an end to human

trafficking and sexual exploitation in Canada,

Cambodia, and across the globe.


Objectives

In addition to adhering to Chab Dai’s international core values, Chab Dai Canada has three primary objectives:

  1. Awareness Raising & Advocacy. Chab Dai Canada is committed to raising awareness, providing resources and delivering training to the public, churches and other organizations about addressing human trafficking, sexual exploitation and demand; and advocating on behalf of victims and survivors in Canada, Cambodia, and beyond.

  2. Networking & Coalition Building. Chab Dai Canada is committed to partnering with churches, non-profits, student groups and government ministries in the fight against exploitation and trafficking; and assisting organizations in networking with one another and improving capacity, particularly according to international best practice models.

  3. Fundraising. Chab Dai Canada is committed to raising funds on behalf of Chab Dai Coalition projects and Chab Dai member organizations in Cambodia through special events and engaging the local church.


Resources & News

Here’s what’s happening in Canada:
  1. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police has established a Human Trafficking National Coordination Centre (HTNCC), which provides a focal point for Human Trafficking law enforcement efforts and investigations across Canada. Check out their website to find out about the HTNCC's mandate, find answers to FAQs about human trafficking, and to download the "I'm not for Sale" poster to promote awareness and reporting of trafficking issues.

  2. The upcoming Vancouver Winter Olympics in February and March 2010 have raised concerns about the rise in human trafficking in areas playing host to the games. A few reports have been published on the issue, which will direct the measures taken to prevent the trafficking and exploitation of people during this sporting event.   5. Manitoba MP Joy Smith is at the forefront of the legislative battle against human trafficking. This year, she introduced Bill C-268: Mandatory Minimum Sentencing for Child Trafficking. Check out her website for more information.
