U.S. Registry Project

Human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation are a growing global phenomenon. Though national efforts to fight trafficking and exploitation have increased in recent years, there remain several gaps and challenges if modern day slavery is to be brought to an end in the United States and across the globe. One such challenge is that cooperation and coordination among non-profits, U.S. government agencies and grassroots movements is currently insufficient. There is currently no exhaustive catalog, index or list of organizations, ministries and movements working against trafficking and CSE across the United States.

The Chab Dai USA Registry Project (previously mapping project), launched in 2009, is being done in collaboration with key stakeholders across the country to create a database of organizations working against trafficking and exploitation in the United States. This will be done in cooperation with law enforcement in order to create more opportunities for collaboration amongst advocacy organizations, legal groups, government and social services. So far, preliminary lists have accumulated information on over 700 organizations - all working against slavery within US borders.

The aim of Chab Dai’s U.S. Registry Project is to develop a more collaborative approach to trafficking in the United States by measuring how U.S. based organizations are currently providing a response to trafficking and exploitation, and linking those organizations together through a common registry.

Project partners include Equitas Group and representatives from The Salvation Army, FAAST, Global Centurion, Vanguard University Center for Women’s Studies, University of Washington Communications Dept., San Jose HT Task Force, Love 146 + others.
